Last Post Of 2015

This will be my last post for this year, so I want to thank each and every one of you who have visited.  I've only been blogging a few short months, since May, to be exact.  My fellow, Florida bloggers, have been so welcoming, since the very beginning.  Thank you all, especially for your kind comments.  Most of you are adept, not only at gardening, but at photography and writing, as well.  I freely admit, I'm only a gardener, trying to share a glimpse of my endeavors at gardening.  Thank you all for sharing your lovely spaces with me, you and your beautiful gardens have been an inspiration.

This is a little of what's going on in my world.  I sowed ryegrass seed a week or so ago, and my neighbor yelled over, "You're gonna have to mow that, you know?"  If I told him how much I love to mow, he wouldn't believe me, but it's true.  My Honey does all the edging and weed eating, I just ride around and mow, isolated from the world for a while.  Anyway, it's come in beautiful, emerald green...

The 'East Palatka' Holly tree is laden with berries, appropriately so, for the season...

Not normal for the season, blooming hydrangeas.  The shrubs look so woebegone this time of year, made to look even more pathetic, by the newness of these blooms.

Hydrangeas in the shade gardens, around back, are also setting buds.

Ditto, pagoda plants.  I can only hope that we have a few weeks of cool weather, before we get a sudden frost or freeze.  I know  many gardeners, further north, are also experiencing above normal temps. this year.

Along with new blooms, we had new visitors.  This flock of Black-bellied Whistling Ducks stopped by a few days ago.  These pictures were taken through the window.

The females ran back and forth between feeders, while the males stayed on 'high alert'.

Oh yes, they knew what a bird feeder was for.

They had to be content with what was scattered under the feeders.

Another visitor, an unwelcome one.  He's appreciated in the garden, but not in the birdhouses.  It's our fault though, the tree has grown too close to the house, and we'll move it before spring nesting.

 Today's blooms and foliage...

Until next year...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Garden Bloggers Bloom Day~December 2015~Central Florida

Central Florida is having absolutely, magical weather.  It was 84 degrees yesterday, perfect for lazing  about outside, enjoying a glass of iced tea.  There's no lack of blooms for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day,  so I'll begin with some of the roses that are flowering...

Belinda's Dream Rose

Clair Matin Rose

Queen Elizabeth Rose

Red Cascade Climbing Rose

My smallest Sasanqua Camellia shrubs have an abundance of blooms...

'Cotton Candy'

'Stephanie Golden'

'Snow-on-the-Mountain'

This beauty is from a larger Sasanqua.

The Black Eyed Susan Vine has been in bloom for months.  Some of our neighbors have gathered  seeds from her, so perhaps there will be offspring to enjoy next year in our vicinity.

I bought this ginger in spring, unlabeled.  Turned out to be a Costus spicatus, common name, Indian Head Ginger.

Cheerful hibiscus.

Clerodendrum Vine

A Tibouchina in the midst of the shade garden.

I cut these plants down to the ground, at the end of summer.  They were a ragged mess, but they've returned beautifully.  Salvia guaranitica, 'Black and Blue'.

While I was taking the photo above, a couple of our resident Sandhill Cranes came strolling down the road...

There's always a lot blooming here, and I never get around to sharing the Impatiens that are roaming around the shade garden, but they're important too.

Plants like the New Zealand Tea Tree, with their tiny rose-like blooms, are also overlooked.

Then there's begonias, often ignored too, but deserving of recognition.  This large potful has returned faithfully, year after year.  She gets moved about, brightening up whatever corner of the garden I place her in.

Turks cap

Gardenia

Pagoda Flower

Gloriosa Lily

I hope everyone is having a great week, whether gardening or planning next years garden.  Happy GBBD.  Visit Carol at May Dreams Gardens to see blooms from around the world.
