This morning I picked a little of everything, and pulled my first carrots. The carrots are Imperator, planted in my 2 block high beds, and I have Danvers Half Long in my single block beds.
I have another reason to be thankful for my gardens, other than all the fresh goodies they supply us with. I gave my 5 week old chicks a handful of carrot tops, and they were delighted.
They have just been in the coop, and out of their cardboard castle, a couple days...they love it.
Someone found a bug...
Nah...false alarm.
I wonder why it took me so long to get chickens...I love watching their silly antics.
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
Your veggies are beautiful! I guess the chicks are serving as your new compost keepers, huh? ;0D
ReplyDeleteDaisy, I guess that's true...we'll all benefit. _Janice
DeleteSuch gorgeous photos!! And so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteHow in the world do you have such a beautiful veggie garden . . . seriously, how? Time to share some secrets, Janice. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeeing your chickens makes me think I might need to try again. Seeing your posts makes me wish I was your neighbor.
What a beautiful veggie garden in Florida. I want to know how raccoons and other night creatures do not go in there and wreak havoc?
ReplyDeleteHappy harvesting and have a great week ~ FlowerLady
Lorraine, I must just be lucky. We do have raccoons, but they've never bothered the garden...hope my luck continues. _Janice
DeleteHi Janice, Your little chicks are soooo adorable. I especially like the way the one is strutting up the walkway. She looks so confident! I'm totally envious of your vegetable garden. It looks great and your harvest looks wonderful!! I should have left more room for veggies! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, I 'm certainly enjoying my new little charges. Earlier in the year when we cleared out the space where I have my in ground vegetables, my intent was to plant more flowers. So glad I didn't...I think I've hit my limit as to what I can take care of. Veggies are easier and most of them are gone before it gets too hot. _Janice
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're having fun with your chickens. They are really cute! I'm not surprised they love their coop--it is basically the coolest coop I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteI've still got to get the girls some adornments for their coop...then I'll be done. I'm turning into 'that' person (ha-ha). _Janice
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! I just love these little chickens and I would probably be watching them all day if I had them around! So glad you are enjoying them.
